UPDATE 03 - March 22nd 2018
I finally finished all the digital prints, and I posted them here on my website for you to have a look. You can choose any of them by their names in the menu.
All these characters lead me to come up with a story in my mind that I have been thinking about for a while. I'm still working on it, but I finally created every name for each one of them as well, so at this stage they all start to have their own characteristics, I will post more about it soon.
I recently finished another watercolor painting on Plywood, its another one to be part of the family "Gods of the Forest", this one is smaller than the last one I posted, it has 33,5X37,3cm.
I've been enjoying painting on plywood more and more, can't wait to do more of these. Let me know what you think of them so far, it would be great to have your opinion, just click on CONTACT in the menu to send me a message.
UPDATE 02 - February 14th 2018
After I finished my watercolor on paper paintings, and got all the prints digitally edited, I decided to move on to a bigger canvas, a 81,2cm X 89,3cm piece of Plywood, and created a new God - a Kudu God. The Greater Kudu is an antelope of the genus Tragelaphus found throughout Eastern and Southern Africa. I first saw a real one when I lived in South Africa back in 2002 while visiting a Natinal Park and I felt in love for that antilope. I keep in my heart as a symbol of a significant year in my life.
It took me about 3 weeks to finish this one, as I was working on another job, and during the process I did some filming and took some photos to share how I do it. I love the process of painting, so my next idea was to use all the material I had from that artwork and turn into a "Painting Process" video. You can check out the video for the painting here:
And here is a picture of the final painting:
UPDATE 01 - Jan 17th 2018
"Gods of the Forest" is my new project as a visual artist.
This project aims to explore different art techniques through these creatures that I see in my own imagination, inspired by Nature, Life and Personal Interests.
I will update this page as some sort of a blog sharing what I have done so far with them.
My first illustration from this collection came up on a t-shirt in June/2017, I created the drawing with fabric markers to achieve the results I wanted and really liked the final artwork. So I created another 4 illustrations on different t-shirts that I could wear myself. After getting some positive comments on my social media and from friends around about the designs, I decided to start sketching them on paper, so I could start a whole new collection.
The idea of the project grew more and more in my mind as I was drawing them. I love the outline and dot work, but I wanted more, so I decided to start with watercolor, and see what I could do with it. I started adding color one by one of the ten images to come up with different color palettes and give them more life and character.
After adding color to them I scan the final paintings and digitally change a few details and add background to come up with the final artwork. They will be able for purchase soon online.
In this post I'm showing some of the work when I started them in early August 2017 until the point that I am right now. More picture can bee seen on my Instagram page.
The process to go with them will continue, I will keep posting news and what's happening little by little, so make sure you come back to see what's going on.
If you have any questions or just wanna say hello make sure to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
